Olmsted County has the healthiest population in the USA according to the U.S. News and World Report rankings on the healthiest communities. The report states that the people living in Olmsted County are among the fittest, happiest, and longest-living people in the U.S.

 The factors considered included: population health, equity, education, economy, housing, food and nutrition, environment, public safety, community vitality, and infrastructure, how many people have health insurance, how many people participate in regular physical activity, rates, of cancer, life expectancy, and how many poor mental health days people have every month.

Contributing to Olmsted’s healthiness is Olmsted County Public Health.  The Public Health Department has vibrant and active program to help maintain and improve the health of our county’s population. I continue to support the efforts of our Public Health Department.
