The Seneca Plan Site
The Seneca Plant on 12th Street and 3rd Avenue is in the process of being Demolished. Work on the tear down began December 1 and will continue through January. The restoration and painting of the Corn Tower is expected to begin on May 3, 2021. The Seneca site will become a green space until a new purpose it is found.

Late Payment Penalty for Property Tax Extended
The County Board voted to extend the payment of property taxes without a late penalty fee to December 31. This is one of the ways in which the County Board responded to the financial impact that COVID-19 has had. I supported this extension. This is the third property tax payment extension made by the County Board. I supported all three extensions. Please be aware that 2020 property taxes are due December 31, 2020; Penalties will accrue on January 1, 2021.
County Commissioner receives Outstanding Service Award
Sheila Kiscaden, an Olmsted County Commissioner and former Minnesota State Senator, was the recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Services Award by the Association of Minnesota Counties. Sheila Kiscaden exemplifies the commitment and involvement that Olmsted County Commissioners have to improve the lives people in our county.
Olmsted County Park Entrance Fees Suspended
The County Board voted to suspend entrance fees at all county parks from December 4, 2020 until April 30, 2021. I voted for this suspension so that people in the county can get out of their house and enjoy the benefits of physical and emotional well-being that the outdoors can provide. Taking a walk in one of the Parks is a satisfying respite from the COVID-19 constrictions that we are all experiencing.
