Updates: Drunk Driving, Roads and Bridges, and Housing

Updates

Keeping Drunk Drivers off the Road

Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Arrests

From October 1, 2017, through March 31, 2018, Sheriff Deputies arrested 103 drivers for DWI.

Roads and Bridges

Counties across the U.S. are responsible for 46% of public roads and 38% of all bridges.  Olmsted County has its share of roads and bridges to maintain.  It is important that the state and federal funding keep pace with our infrastructure needs.

Housing

Olmsted County continues to work with community and state based organizations to alleviate the housing situation in Olmsted County.

One source of funding for housing is the federal government’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).  From 1994 to 2018 the population of the U.S. has increased 25% but the CDBG funding has decreased 23%.  States and Counties have looked to other organization both private and public to make up for the loss of Federal funding.
