Seneca and the Proposed DMC Transit Hub & Early Voters

Seneca and the Proposed DMC Transit Hub

The County will employ the University of Minnesota Design Center to develop a conceptual plan for the Seneca/Graham Park area.  The County proposed to work together with the City and the UofM Design Team; the City rejected this proposal.

I support the Seneca site as the Mobility Hub for the following reasons:

  • This will enhance the development of Graham Park and will not reduce the size of Graham Park
  • This will not require a road to encroach on existing Graham Park
  • The DMC zone (downtown Rochester) is being constructed by the City for visitors not for the people of Olmsted County.  Graham Park is being designed for the people who live in the county.

I resist any plan to reduce the size of Graham Park.  I will continue to be available to work with the City and the DMC board to develop a plan that makes the most sense for the people who live in the county.

Early Voter Expected to Increase in Election 2020

Number of absentee ballots has increased at every election.

The number of absentee ballots requested, about 5,000, in the 2014 election grew to about 16,000 in 2016 and 17,00 in the 2018 election.  From 2014 to 2018 it was in increase of 239%; this was the largest growth of absentee voting of any Minnesota County. Olmsted County is expecting an even larger number of Absentee Ballots (Early Voters) in the 2020 election. The County will be preparing for an estimated 28,000 absentee ballots.
