Seneca Site Demolition

Rachel Contracting has been awarded the contract to Demolish the Seneca building.  The bid also included Restoration and Painting the Corn Tower.  The accepted Bid was $1,098,013.  Demotion could start this year but is not expected to completed until sometime in 2021.

 

CARES Act Distribution

Olmsted received CARES Act funding.  CARES Act is a Federal Program that provided Economic Relief because of the COVID pandemic.  I voted to set aside Five Million Dollars of the funds to provide assistance to Olmsted County Small Businesses and Non-Profits who lost income from March 1 to present due to the COVID pandemic.  Here is the list of the small businesses and Non-profits that received CARES Act funds from the County.  Small businesses are vital to the Olmsted County economy.  Non-Profits provide many services to mutual clients of the County; their economic health is important to insure those service can still be delivered.  I know that businesses and non-profits lost more income than what the grant provides and that not all small business and non-profits received money.  I supported the county’s efforts to help as many small businesses and non-profits as possible with the limited fund we received from the Federal Government.

 

For the businesses receiving funds:

• 79 (26% of applicants) will receive the full amount of $25,000
• 138 (45% of applicants) employed six or fewer FTEs
• 87 are majority owned by women
• 40 are majority owned by racial or ethnic minorities
• 10 are majority owned by veterans
