This is a chart that shows population diversity in Minnesota, Olmsted County and the Olmsted County workforce. The column on the right shows that in Minnesota, people of color make up 16% of the population. The middle column shows that the 15% of the county’s population is people of color. The column on the left shows Olmsted County’s employees consist of 6% people of color.
We can expect that future employee charts will show an equal percent of people of color in the county and in the county’s workforce. As employees retire from county work or leave their jobs, Olmsted needs to fill those jobs in order to maintain the good work of the county.
The county’s workforce, as well as other employers, will be dependent on all of the people living in the county. There is strength and creativity in diversity; Olmsted can expect greater strength and innovation as our workforce becomes more diverse.
