Ten Ton and An Improved Way to Shoppes on Maine

The folks in the south end of District 3 will soon have an improved road to Shoppes on Maine and access to Highway 63.  Road work is proceeding on CR 101 (County Road) between CSAH 1 (County Assisted State Highway) and St. Bridget’s Road.  The road will be widened with shoulders and will have a concrete surface.  Work has begun to rebuild CSAH 1 from Highway 52 to CR 101.  The road will be widened for better shoulders and finished in concrete.  A roundabout will be built at the CR 101 intersection.  CR 101 will be brought up to a ten-ton standard and will complete an east/west ten-ton truck route.  This will help to alleviate truck traffic in the residential area.  The CR 101 projects costs about $7,200,000 and the CSAH 1 resurfacing projects costs about $2,500,000.  I supported these projects.  The new road is scheduled to be open in November.

Graham Park Plaza Improvement

The use of Graham Park by residents and community groups has steadily improved.  This is part of the transformation of Graham Park which was once “just the fairgrounds” to a community center for local activities.  As part of the transformation a plaza will be constructed next to Floral Hall.  The plaza will connect the two buildings (which were recently upgraded) that have seen a great increase in use.  The construction, which will begin this fall, will include a pergola to provide shade and conversation areas.  The project received $401,332 approval; I supported the improvement.
