Keep in mind the following:
- The number of Minnesotan turning 65 in this decade will be greater than the past 40 years combined.
- In a few years (around 2020) Minnesota’s 65+ population will be greater than the K-12 (ages 5 -17) population for the first time in history.
- The 65+ age group is fast becoming a huge portion of the total population. By 2030 more 1 out of every 5 Minnesotans will be 65+.
I am always aware of these numbers. Decisions on health care, elder housing, transportation, and independent living must take these demographics into consideration.
